Part of it is that it's a sex issue (male versus female) and guys are expected to be tougher about such things...also, breasts are a more sensitive issue than hair...basically, if the law requires it be covered in public (womens breasts, male and female genitalia and buttocks), it's probably more unkewl than usual to ridicule it for any reason...

I like your guess. But I'm more into equity. Personally, I don't think it is ok to make fun of a man's wig. Otoh, maybe if it's obvious a guy has one, then we can tease him to try to persuade him to invest in a more realistic one. But most importantly, I believe men and women should both be more happy with what they've got. No shame in being small-breasted or balding if you've got a big charming distracting smile!

The other half of your query is fair. It isn't APPROPRIATE to make fun of women's breasts, but people do. One thing that the Seinfeld show was NEVER called was appropriate.

Here's the thing: It is virtually impossible to detect a bad boob job. After all, women keep them hidden from view except for very limited occasions. A bad hairpiece is out there for all to see. Seinfeld couldn't have been making fun of a good rug. If it were colored and fitted well, no one could tell.

Forget the ego thing. You will never be able to change your father's ego. You can advise him. You can tell him that there is nothing for him to worry about getting bald. Or, if he is thinking about getting a hairpiece, you can advise him not to go cheap. You may even have to be brutally honest if his does not wear well, or, if his natural color moves too far away from the color of the wig. (redying is going to be an ongoing expense. You can advise him, but you can't make him follow your advice.
