Joan of Arc is a powerful, brave and is a heroine of France. She was born at Domremy in Champagne on January 6, 1412. She was declared a heretic and burned at stake on May 31, 1431. Her parents were Jacques d鈥橝rc and Isabelle Rom茅e. Joan was the youngest out of her five brothers and sisters. Joan of Arc was a French visionary, she was also known as the Maid of Orleans. She is the only person in history to order an entire army of a nation at the age of seventeen. It started in the summer of 1424 that she started to have visions, she identified as St. Catherine, St. Michael and St. Margaret. God told Joan to go to the uncrowned King Charles VII. To lead the French army against the invading English. She dressed in men鈥檚 clothing and cut her hair short so she wouldn鈥檛 be recognized. One time during the battle at Orleans, she was struck by an arrow, pulled it out and continued to lead. News of her courage was spreading, sometimes instead of fighting her, the people would just give up. She led the army for a couple years then she was captured by the English.
Is this a good summary about Joan Of Arc??
Yes! Her mother pressed her case with the Vatican after Joan's death. Joan d'Arc was vindicated by Pope Callixtus III of the crimes of heresy and witchcraft 24 years after her death, and she was named a martyr. Pope Pius X declared her beatification in 1909, and she was cannonized a saint in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV. Her feast day is May 30. She is the patron saint of France; martyrs; captives; militants; people ridiculed for their piety; prisoners; rape victims; soldiers; Women Appointed for Voluntary Military Service; and the Women's Army Corps.

Very good! I like it! But how about instead of having "She was declared a heretic and burned at stake on May 31, 1431." at the beginning, you put it at the end, since you have things in order of her life. That is a good ending. Maybe have "Sadly," and put that whole sentence afterwords. And then end it with something like "Joan of Arc will always be remembered for her courage and bravery." Good luck!

It looks great. You might want to add the date she was canonized if you can find it (I think it was some time in 1920).

Hello,
To be honest with you, I always have had a problem with Joan of Arc. The Hundred Years War was a territorial dispute and who was rightful king etc. It was Roman Catholic fighting Roman Catholic.
My new theory as to her visions may well have had something to to with that Ergot fungus (St. Anthony's Fire) on the wheats in her country at that time. This sheds more light on her perhaps.
I do not know if you want to incorporate this point into your summary which is good by the way.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly
