Shaving irritation...?

I have tried everything from the men's 5 blade razor to ultra sensitive shave gel, after lotion, waxing, nair, healing creme, and even perscription gels but I cannot get rid of the irritation I get from shaving my legs. They get really, really itchy. The hair becomes so corse and almost form ingrown hair if I scratch too much. Please does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm desperate and willing to try anything

Shaving irritation...?

essence oil of lavender, better yet neat if you're not sensitive.

jojoba oil is also excellent so mix it with the lavender if not tolerable neat.

also don't go against the grain of the hair that will cause irritation.

Shaving irritation...?

Peanut Butter.

Shaving irritation...?

Be careful you might get razor bumps make sure you cleanse with tea tree oil before you shave then after you shave clean the blade even if its brand new.

Shaving irritation...?

use salt

Shaving irritation...?

laser hair removal, expensive probably but may be the only thing, also may try mositurizing your legs with lotion and moisturzung body wash before shaving.

Shaving irritation...?

try veet. it is a bladeless razor.

Shaving irritation...?

Try using a loofah before shaving your legs and then moisturize afterwards.

Shaving irritation...?

gillette with the gel strip... it stops irritatin.. best to go with the 2 blade.. the more blades the worse the irritation.. i just use regular soap.. rub alot on then shave.. the strip has something that stops the irritation... im sure they'll work for you too!

Shaving irritation...?

i used to have that same problem but i started using shavers that we're meant for sensative sking no more irritation.

Shaving irritation...?

i like nair instead of shaving

Shaving irritation...?

i asked a girl from India once who shaved all over how she stopped the irritation. I was told 1) shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it 2) pat skin down afterwards with rubbing alcohol 3) follow up with a good lotion that has natural ingrediants in it. no perfumes, etc. like a good face cream. works for me good luck

Shaving irritation...?

try rubbing lotion on your legs (massaging it into your dry skin) before shaving.

or you can try leg waxing. the hair won't be so coarse when it grows back..and less ingrown hairs.

And after you shave try just soaking them in a bathtub of water and Johnson and Johnsons baby oil or Skin so Soft (Avon). It'll keep your legs moist all day.

Shaving irritation...?

Warm water softens the hair. You might try soaking in a tub of warm water first before tackling the hair ... and shave in the direction of the hair and clean the razor often. Also, make sure the blades are sharp (newer).

Shaving irritation...?

Actually, irritation can be caused more so by all of those special gels and creams you're using. Try using the normal Barbasol foam shaving cream. Then, try to only go over the area once or twice, not 6,7,8 times in a row. Other than that though, I can't think of anything else. I would think an after-shave of some sort would help, but I only have two that work for me (Stetson aftershave OR Neutrogena aftershave lotion). All the rest just cause irritation, so I understand your frustration. I'm surprised there is nothing out there you have found to ease the pain.

Shaving irritation...?

I use shaving powder. A black man told me he uses it cause he gets ingrown hairs from shaving. It works great. Stinks but works great. It comes in powder form and is mixed with water and spread on your legs. You sort of scrape the hairs off with a dull blade, like a kitchen knife. I get it at Walmart (but you can probably get it a drugstore) where the shaving creams and razors are found. Use a good body lotion after you shouldn't have any irritation after.

Shaving irritation...?

First you need to find a good moisturizing lotion that doesn't irritate your skin at all. Try the lotion without shaving to determine your sensitivity, and avoid lotions with alcohol and perfumes. Before shaving, take a shower or bath to help soften the hairs. After bathing, pat the skin dry, do not rub. Gently apply a generous amount of the lotion to your skin as a lubricant (instead of soap or shaving cream) and shave in short strokes without stretching the skin and do not push hard on the razor. Have some warm water handy to rinse the razor and shake the excess water from the razor before you resume shaving. After you finish, you may apply additional moisturizing lotion. Always apply the lotion as if you were putting it on a baby and don't rub hard. This is a method used for women at many elderly care facilities where extra gentle care for skin is required.

I had a similar problem, even after scrubbing my legs, I'd get out of the shower and flakes would still be rubbing off because my skin was so dry! EW! Then my husband bought me these exfoliating shower gloves. I use them (don't scrub hard!) on my legs under warm water just before shaving (helps prevent ingrown hairs and a smoother shave!), and afterwards use oil or lotion. My legs aren't dry anymore!
