If you have a gf or wife u should definitly ask her cuz she will be able to match an outfit to your face and watever occasion it is makes a differnece.

Dude - its all about fit. what is your shape/build like? i design neckties which are a bit skinnier and i believe nothing looks better than a white shirt.
